Esophageal Dysphagia: Applications for the Speech-Language Pathologist (MOST POPULAR COURSE!)

Completely updated with an additional hour of CEUs! This cutting-edge, intensive course provides essential training for the dysphagia therapist.  The SLP will become knowledgeable on various esophageal disorders affecting the oropharyngeal stage of swallowing.  There is a significant focus on improving diagnostic ability and treatment planning by learning to decipher primary oropharyngeal versus esophageal dysphagia.  The SLP will learn to identify laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and GERD and become knowledgeable regarding available diagnostic evaluations and medical/ surgical management for esophageal dysphagia. Training is provided for advanced interpretation of FEES and MBS including implementation of the Reflux Finding Score (RFS) and esophageal sweep.  Consideration for appropriate candidacy for various tube feeding options is provided. Evaluation and treatment options for the xerostomic patient will be discussed.

This highly rated webinar is a “crash course” on esophageal dysphagia for the SLP. The clinician gains imperative knowledge on the interrelationship between the oropharynx and the esophagus. Primary esophageal disorders are highlighted. Differential diagnosis regarding primary oropharyngeal vs esophageal dysphagia will be discussed. Learn clinical and endoscopic signs and symptoms consistent with esophageal dysphagia and laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) on FEES. The implementation of the esophageal sweep on VFSS/ MBS and making recommendations is a primary focus in review of case studies.
